Soleil: Creation of a device for calculating and recording the ideal sun exposure time

Excessive exposure to the sun brings harm such as skin cancer, premature aging, burns, among others, and low exposure can trigger diseases such as depression and rickets. According to the World Health Organization, about 50% of the world population has vitamin D deficiency. However, correct sun exposure brings benefits that reflect on the quality of muscles, bones and organs, by promoting the synthesis of vitamin D, a related vitamin also to the functioning of the brain, which may be related to depressive disorders. As a result, the present study aims to create a device, using the Arduino board, UVM-30A UV Sensor, Bluetooth Module HC-06 and developing an application through the MIT App Inventor 2 software, which enables the calculation and recording of the ideal time of individual sun exposure necessary for human health. Tests were performed to assess the capacity and accuracy of capturing direct, indirect and diffuse UV radiation by the sensor. The results were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), with a posteriori Tukey test in the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 program. The programming of the Arduino board, UVM-30A UV Sensor and Bluetooth Module HC-06 were completed. However, the application's programming and the elaboration of the device's user manual are still in the development process. It was noticed that the sensor has the necessary precision to capture direct and indirect UV radiation, as far as the capture of diffuse radiation is concerned, it is in the process of data collection. Currently, on the market, there is no product with the precision and effectiveness shown by Soleil in terms of calculating and recording the ideal time for sun exposure. Furthermore, it is believed that this device helps the general public in alleviating problems generated by low and excessive sun exposure, which were aggravated by social isolation due to the pandemic generated by Covid-19, making this product even more necessary.
