MASTECA: INCLUSIVE EDUCATIONAL DESK LINKED TO THE GEOMETRY AREA

Project summary

The idea of MASTECA came up with the questioning about the teaching of mathematics, specifically in the area of geometry, in which the lack of inclusive materials related to content leads to the segregation of students with visual impairments, due to the fact that the content demands a lot of Spatial perception, in addition, people without hearing acuity also suffer from this problem since there is a lack of concepts translated into pounds, and geometry uses several complex definitions. Faced with this impasse, there is a need for an interactive table, MASTECA. It consists of a base with 10 geometric shapes (produced in MDF and PLA) with tactile lines. The shapes will be coupled to an interactive base in which there are spaces where they will be located and can be removed one at a time, at that moment the interactive device's monitor will play a video with an audio description transcribed in pounds. This is made possible by the neodymium magnet and the reed switch, which together serve as a switch for the Raspberry Pi to start the program responsible for playing the video. Thus, it is noticeable that all students, without segregation, will be able to use it, ensuring access and participation of all individuals, guaranteeing everyone the right to school. Due to the fact that MASTECA is innovative, it includes the SDGs numbers 4, 9, 10, 16 and 17, which talk about quality education, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reducing inequalities, peace, justice and effective institutions and for end, partnerships and means of implementation. Keywords: Inclusion, Geometry, Education 5.0, Blind, Deaf.
