Project summary

The present work demonstrates a comparative analysis of the precipitation and temperature of Brazilian coastal states in the presence of the exuberant Atlantic forest. Since this is a biome of extreme importance for the Brazilian ecosystem, the obstacles to understanding climate studies and meteorological scrapping today, the research aimed to evaluate the behavior of temperature and precipitation along a latitude gradient of coastal states with this biome present. To be carried out, initially a sampling of cities with Atlantic Forest was carried out through geographic comparison with maps from CNiPPNE, SOS Mata Atlântica and Environmental Observatory, resulting in a gradient from PB to RS. The BDMEP (Meteorological Database for Teaching and Research) platform of the National Institute of Meteorology and the Feevale University was used to obtain data on temperature and precipitation referring to the stations in these locations. The temperature was measured during the period from April 2020 to April 2021, while the precipitation was selected only for the months of June and December 2020. With the measured values, they were all tabulated comparing abiotic factor by latitude, resulting in 3 distinct graphics that serve as the main search results. With data analysis and bibliographic research, it can be inferred that when moving away from the equator, the average temperature tends to decrease due to the difference in the angle that the sun's rays reach the Earth, being further away from the zenith for more accentuated latitudes , especially in the winter months. As for precipitation: in the winter months it is distributed along the entire observed latitude, but during the summer there is an undeniable decline for northeastern states and a slight increase for southern and southeastern states thanks to the different active air masses - in this case from the south and southeast, there is the presence of Amazonian air masses that regulate humidity and precipitation during this period of drought, while the northeast is influenced by Pacific ocean masses, especially El niño and La niña, often causing warming and drought. - and regional geographic formations - such as, to the south, the Andes mountain range, which causes precipitation of these humid masses and prevents their travel to regions even further south, and the borborema plateau to the northeast, which dries up any continental masses of any kind of energy to reach the coast, like the Amazonian masses. Finally, several studies on the proposed theme are compiled here in a comprehensive language with a focus on the explanations and mechanisms that influence the observed phenomena. Meteorology. Climatology. Latitude.
